I've been coming here since before COVID - that's how long I've supported this place, but I feel like the more recently hired employees are not good at following instructions, or just aren't detailed-oriented...? Firstly, matcha is supposed to be healthy. In Japan, most people drink it unsweetened or very, very lightly sweetened; I grew up in Taiwan, which is an ex-Japanese colony & have spent months living in Japan. When the default options are so sweet, it virtually cancels out all of matcha's health benefits. Today (around 8 pm on a Tuesday), I asked for my usual order, which consists of only "one-third sweetness" - & I repeated that twice - yet I got the full sweetness option. I had a sip & almost barfed from how sweet it is... At almost $9 per order, this is just not okay. I understand the need to cater to American taste buds, but maybe there's a compromise/mid-way point? Authentic matcha spots would try to preserve the most authentic ways... Another feedback: Personally, I find the music they play to be too loud & dance-y, not very cafe-like... I can appreciate K-pop songs, but maybe choose more cafe-appropriate ones & turn the volume down a bit?

I give it 4 stars only because I feel I haven’t gone enough times to rate the entire menu but I love that Cafe Maiko uses the real stuff. I would highly recommend the strawberry matcha it’s incredibly delicious and I find myself craving it often. I’ve tried the blueberry and was not super impressed, not because it wasn’t good but because the strawberry was that good !!! The ladies at the front are usually super friendly and will help guide your selection if you’re new to the matcha world and the place looks clean.

The matcha is so good and I especially love some of the seasonal flavors, like mango. The mango sticky rice sundae is a must try. So good! And a classic favorite is the matcha soft serve. I had a float for the first time today and really enjoyed it. It was not super sweet but very tasty.

It was quite busy when my husband and I went around 7:45pm on December 13th, 2025, and they forgot about my order. The staff were really sweet and apologetic about forgetting it when they realized after the store cleared out (roughly 30 minutes later). I’m still giving them a good review because they were busy and we were not in a hurry at all! I got the Matcha soft serve maiko special, shown in the pictures, which takes a few extra minutes to make.

I absolutely love this place! The matcha is amazing, the ice cream is delicious, and honestly everything I’ve tried here has been great. The service is excellent as well everyone is friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is beautiful and makes it a really enjoyable place to visit. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for great drinks, desserts, and a nice environment.
